Bertram is a Walmart exclusive narrow gauge engine who was nicknamed "The Old Warrior" for his bravery.

The TrackMaster (HiT Toy Company) Big Friends prototype Bertram features pink stripes instead of gold stripes, the nameplate misspelled as Bertrum, and a brown bufferbeam.
- Bertram actually has pink stripes instead of gold stripes in the television series.
In the television series, Bertram is a repainted Duke. Despite this, the TrackMaster toy is a completely different mold with minor changes. These include a wider, shorter, and flatter cab, a thinner bufferbeam, a taller smokebox, a shorter funnel, and no valve gear. His tender is also substantially larger than Duke's, with different axleboxes. This may have been done to demonstrate that they are two completely different engines.
