Tomy Trains (originally known as Tomytrain) was a range of battery-operated trains made by Tomy that were released in the US, Europe, Australia, and Korea. In 1992, Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends trains (also known in the US as the Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends Battery Operated Railway Train Systems) were introduced. All of the trains had magnetic couplings and ran on dark blue track. In 1998, the range was discontinued and replaced with the Tomica World line, based upon the Plarail system already in use in Japan.
The packaging was originally dark blue with the engines in window boxes, but was later changed to red (yellow for Thomas trains) with an updated logo.
Engines[]
The engines could move forwards and backwards, and came with a driver figure to put in the cab.
